I am currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Environmental Health Officer to join a team based in Oxford.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, innovative and dynamic Environmental Health

Officer to take the role of technical lead in our Business Regulation Team who are responsible for

a range of Environmental Health regulatory functions in commercial premises. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and keep doing so for the next 6 months.

 

The successful candidate will primarily focus on food safety/health and safety enforcement. This

will include delivery of the proactive inspection programmes, COVID-19 regulatory & response

work, development of related projects and other commercial case work.ee enforcement. The role

also involves supporting and supervising a small team of specialist officers as well as providing

managerial support to the Team Manager.

 

You will need to have a post qualification experience, including formal enforcement in food safety

and health and safety and dealing with complex cases. FSA compliant food competence is a must.

Good working knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation together with problem

solving, analytical and organisational skills are essential. As a confident and insightful

communicator, you’ll be comfortable liaising with Councillors, internal and external customers as

well as working with other partners to deliver a high quality service.

 

The role will involve

  • To provide the technical, professional lead for the range of food safety and health & safety functions carried out by the team. This will include delivery of projects and other commercial case work.
  • To take responsibility for reactive and proactive elements of the team’s work areas and work with team members to develop ideas and effective working practices.
  • Supervising and supporting team members to ensure high performance and excellent customer service and providing managerial support to the Team Manager.

This is a temporary role, working on a full-time basis for 6 months (30th April 2020). The role has as a pay rate of £21.16 per hour PAYE. An Umbrella equivalent is also available.
