REED Education are working closely with a special school in the Reading area to recruit for a qualified tutor, intervention specialist or higher-level teaching assistant to join the school as soon as possible on an ongoing temporary basis.

This role is focused on intervention work with students who have had difficulties re-integrating following school closures and disjointed education due to the coronavirus pandemic, due to the needs of these students, a lack of routine has had a negative effect on their learning progress.

The successful person will be able to plan and deliver tailored lessons to small groups of students requiring additional personalised intervention. In addition to learning progress you will be responsible for helping these students integrate into the school environment.

The following attributes are beneficial:

- Experience planning and delivering tailored lessons in core subjects.
- Experience working with SEN, specifically autism spectrum condition.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
- Previous experience of working in a pastoral nature.
- Qualified Teacher Status, HLTA qualification, university level qualification or further education teaching qualification (such as DTLLS, PTLLS or QTLS).

The school is a purpose-built special school in Reading for students aged 5-13 with high-functioning ASC.

With a team of experienced and committed teaching and learning support staff who hold specialist knowledge of autism and are passionate about developing their students' education and personal development. The school has small class sizes and additional support staff to support teaching across the primary and secondary curriculum. With plans in place for the school to expand over the coming years, there will be opportunities internally for career progression.

You will understand the challenges of working with the challenging behaviour and have experience of applying appropriate strategies and can demonstrate proven results.
